I started using Blender about a week ago

I started using Blender 2.62 about a week ago. I am completely new to animation and only slightly familiar with Photoshop. That is the extent of my CG experience.

I thought I would like to have a place to post my trials and my errors as I go along.

I have found many useful tutorials online and hope to one day be knowledgeable enough and skilled enough to contribute my own tutorials.

I'm finding that it is a great help to have forums to ask questions on.

I am using BlenderArtists.org a lot. http://blenderartists.org/forum/index.php

I am also using Blender.org

As well as http://cgcookie.com/blender/

I'm also using the book Blender Foundations, The Essential Guide to Learning Blender 2.6 by Roland Hess. I am currently attempting to do the project from that book. I'm on Chap 7.

Any advice from anyone who stumbles across this blog would be greatly appreciated!

  1. Hey, i got here from your thread at blenderartists.org. Congratulations on having done the table.

but for me, i started learning Blender at the same time as you and unfortunately i follow the same book as you and i have a problem with the table legs while the book is apparently not clear enough and the web bucket images don't add much to this.

did you manage to follow what the book said?

it would be good if you can reproduce the column and the legs once again? can you make a video starting with creating the column until you finish with the legs array modifier, I too would like to follow what the book is saying.

    thank you.

  3. thanks.

if you follow the book how the table legs are done, the most tricky part is the array modifier and exactly page 97.

i always end up moving the Empty mesh away from the center of the column to fix the positioning of the 4 legs while that's not how it should be done.

    get well.
